  1. Use existing trees to block and filter harsh western sun.
  2. Orient to allow natural wind flows to provide cooling ventilation during hot seasons.
  3. Pay particular attention to the connection on your project site between indoor and outdoor spaces, using defined, semi-protected outdoor spaces as extensions of interior spaces and as connections to the natural environment. Create positive outdoor spaces connected to your home with shade in summer and filtered sun in winter.
